Here's a holiday track I wrote in 2011, but didn't get around to recording until now. Merry Christmas!

There’s a snowman in a scarf beside the pathway
Or a cardinal with holly berries bright
There are figures wearing sweaters, throwing snowballs
Or a frosty pinecone, flecked with flakes of white
There are icicles glinting on fir trees
Or depending from the eaves
Or from branches bare of leaves
But it’s one more Christmas without you:
Winter's true chill no card can dispel

There’s a star of joyous herald in the heavens
Or three wise men riding camels, bearing gold
There's a Virgin with a Child in a manger,
Gentle beasts whose breath is cloudy in the cold
There are angels who sing Hallelujah
Can’t you hear the church bells ring?
See the halo round the king?
But it’s one more Christmas without you
There's a whole different story to tell

Somewhere else, there are children hugging puppies
Family dinners round the table, patient mistletoe above
There are parties full of friends singing carols by the fireside
But I’ve been here
Another year
With no one near
To love

There’s a reindeer-powered sleigh containing Santa
There are candy canes and sugarplums and elves
There’s a tree bedecked with ornaments and tinsel
And the presents we would never buy ourselves
There are candles and wreaths and poinsettias
They bring out the red and green
One day after Hallowe’en…
But it's one more Christmas without you
And I can’t stop thinking about you
But you’re with me in spirit throughout: you love me
And I you as well
So what the hell:
